Lost And Found

So.
Is your mind still reeling from the season 3 series finalé of "Lost" last Sunday (or earlier if you watched it using the power of BitTorrent)?
Was a bit good wasn't it?

If you're still trying to piece together all the pieces of the puzzle shown so far (what is the black smoke? what is the purpose of the Dharma Initiative? Why are there Polar Bears on the Island, etc, etc), then you might want to point you browser at the Lostpedia (a Wikipedia just about Lost). It has all of the current threads, plots, subplots and theories covered.. however it is full of spoilers if you're not up to date - so be warned!!!

Anyway, check it out, there are some answers there to be sure!!

Needles

So tomorrow I will have to make my annual trip to the local surgery.
Because I have asthma, I have to get a flu jab once a year, you see, and tomorrow is the first of two "opportunities" to get sorted for another year.

It also means that I will have to sit in the "Waiting Room of the Living Dead" as, of course, most of the people who actually qualify for a free flu jab are pensioners.. and they'll all shuffle in looking like a weekday post-office queue magnified.

Am hoping that this year's jab will have more of a fighting chance to do it's job properly, compared to last year seeing as I have given up the cigarettes. I must admit that these cooler mornings aren't as problematic as they used to be. I mean I know it's not properly cold yet, but even so not spending the first five minutes of every day hacking my lungs up is certainly an improvement.

In other news, saw the last episode (until 2007 anyway) of Lost last night. Yes, yes, I've had it downloaded for over a week too, just not got around to watching it yet. Was good stuff, cannot wait to get sat down in front of Sky One in the new year for the rest of season three.

Lost and Found

So I'm downloading (as I type, actually) the fifth episode of Lost..
However, my bandwidth won't take a battering for much longer as it would appear that Lost series 3 will be starting on Sky One on November 17th.

From the digital spy forums:

Lost Scheduling

  • Sky One and Sky Two

  • Starts 19th November 2006

  • Core Episodes: Sky One, Sundays 2000–2300 (opening night 2200-2400)

  • NB – Opening night is likely to see a red button multi start (TBC)

  • 22 episodes

  • Plus peak time repeats on Sky One and Sky Two in the following slots

  • Sky One Tuesdays 2200 - 2300

  • Sky Two Wednesdays 2200 - 2300

  • Sky Two Sunday 2000 - 2100

  • Plus one hour special on Sky One and Sky Three “Lost: A Tale of Survival”

  • NB: Lost Series-3 breaks on 17th December 06 and resumes again on 11th February 07. This is due to US ABC Network current scheduling commitment.

  • As it returns to ABC on 8th Feb (after the break) and Feb 11th is when it returns to Sky, we'll only be a few days behind the Americans!! (and seeing as I rarely see it before the Thursday anyway, I'll only have to wait an extra 72 hours).

I do feel sorry for people who've got Freeview boxes, though. Sky have been very sneaky buying this third series (particularly as it's the best of the bunch so far)..

Anyway no more caning my broadband for episodes of Lost - now I'll only nick all the bandwidth for XBox live demos!!!

    Spoiler Warning

Right, this is a warning:  This post will concern itself with the third series of "Lost" which is currently only being shown in America (and on tellies around the world where people have BitTorrent and Broadband) therefore if you either a) are waiting for series three of Lost to appear on British TV or b) have given up on the show, then I can pretty much guarantee this post is not for you.. move along, move along

    okay..

just wait for them to leave..

    I think they're gone now..

So the third series of Lost is really, really impressing me - the opening four episodes have beaten anything I've previously seen in the last two series.  I like the way the show has managed to reinvent itself again, and yet stay true to the original themes and characters.  And the return of Polar Bears!  Yay!  The question is are the Others the good guys?  Are they being horrible to Jack, Sawyer and Kate because they would be more inclined to mistrust them if they were nice?  Is Benjamin playing the "long con" and does he have operable cancer?  Meanwhile can Desmond see the future?  It's all good stuff.. It's a pity there's a break coming up soon, but then we're promised 17 consecutive episodes and if they're all of this quality I'll be well happy.

    Finalé

So this weekend see's the end of the current series of "24" in a big, double episode season finalé.  Additionally this weekend marks part one of the two part story that will see off the current series of "Doctor Who".

    This sucks.

Why do good TV shows have to go away?
More importantly, why do good television shows all air at the same time.  For example at one point earlier in the year a week of television included episodes of "Lost", "Battlestar Galactica", "Doctor Who", "24", etc, etc.. The Sky Plus planner was packed to the rafters and every minute spent in front of the Idiot's Lantern was an entertaining one.  Now the schedules look quite barren and empty in comparison.  Factor into this desolate outlook that the World Cup will finish soon and the viewing outlook resembles a pit of despair.

So.. can anyone recommend a good book for when the baby's sleeping?

    Lost In Thought

In other news, I think the excitement of that last episode of Lost has brought on contractions.. watch this space

    Lost and Found

They say that anticipation is nine-tenths of the pleasure, but -to be fair- that's just bollocks.  If looking forward to something is actually better than it happening then to be honest you should set your goals and/or expectations just a tad higher.  Me.. I hate waiting.  I'm an impatient person.  I admit it.  I'm the person who phones up when taxi's or takeaways are more than a couple of minute late.  I'm the kid who couldn't wait for Christmas.

So the fact that my Lost download didn't complete until sometime in the wee small hours of the morning really grinds my gears.  Now (because of work commitments) I won't be able to see the finalé until tonight.  Argh!

    Random

Feel quite chatty this morning, so I'll crack on with another post if it's all the same to you.  Read it.  Don't read it.  The choice is yours.  I'm not here to try and tell you what to do, man.  I ain't the boss of you.  I ain't the King of you.  It's your life, after all, and I'm not hear to tell you how to live your life.  After all, I believe the children are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way.  Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

    But anyway..
Quite excited about what's downloading onto my 'puter via the wondrous power of broadband at the moment: The last two episodes of series two of Lost.  Series Finalé, baby!  Yeah!  Episodes twenty-three and twenty-four back-to-back.  How many answers are going to be revealed at the end of this series?  Less than anyone fucking expected, I imagine, but Lost really is about the journey more than it is about the destination.  I am hoping for an appearance of something truly odd in these closing episodes, though.  Either an appearance by the black smoke creature or another polar bear (not seen since series once) would be cool as it's been getting very serious lately.

And it's a bank holiday weekend - yay!
Just checked the five day forecast and it's grim I tell thee, so another British Tradition is upheld.  However it means that I may get into the shed  this weekend so that I can organise it.  So far only a few things have been randomly slung in there.  What is needed now is a sustained shed storage and re-organisation period.  Unless you're a man you probably find it difficult to grasp just how important shed organisation is, but trust me when I say it has to be considered a top priority.  The fact that there is evidence of poor organisation in the shed at the moment has kept me awake long into the night this week.  Therefore it must be sorted.  Soon as..

Finally, I fear I am beginning to grow weary of Big Brother already, which is a pity as I am just beginning to appreciate what a great presenter Russell Brand is on "Big Brother's Big Mouth".  It would appear that as soon as one of the spoilt brats that occupy that house don't get their own way, they simply stamp their foot and threaten to leave.  Nikki was doing it last night on the channel 4 show at the mere prospect of not getting her suitcase, and now I believe Dawn has asked to go now as well.  As I said before, great format but a poor contestant selection process.  I think this series could well be the death of Big Brother.

Anyway, keep checking back (or why not enable the RSS feed?) as I may post more drivel later, and that's just too exciting a prospect to miss now, isn't it?  Although the choice is yours.  I'm not here to try and tell you what to do, man, etc, etc..

    Feels like Christmas!

    Yay!
New episode of Lost went out last night..

Now before any knuckle-dragging luddites start scoffing: "I think you'll find channel four broadcast the episodes on Tuesday, actually", I should point out that I mean a new episode was on abc last night (Series 2, Episode 20 to be precise!) and is now.. ahem.. "available" on the interweb..

It's been two weeks since we got a new episode and there was a bit of a revelation at the end of episode 19 so am keen to get home and get it watched..

..but only four episodes to go!

..I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say: "I don't think they're gonna get off the island in series 2"
